COMMUNITY 25 "PEACE BE" RESIDENTS CRY FOUL OVER LACK OF DRAINAGE AND ROAD CONDITION

Residents of Tema Community 25 "Peace Be" in the Ningo-Prampram District of the Greater-Accra Region, are crying over lack of drainage system and road conditions. The residents raised these issues in what looks like a mini Association group because of social distancing last Wednesday.

According to the group, the road which links the community to other areas of the District is unmotorable with too many potholes, which makes life uncomfortable. The residents said, because the road was not constructed, there was no drainage system and this has created sanitation problems, including absence of a public toilet to serve the community.

Petty traders in the community complained about how the road conditions and absence of  drainage system were affecting their businesses. They also took the opportunity to plead for at least, a public basic school.

According to the Chairperson of the Association, Mr. Lance Montia, the Assembly has been positive about their concerns but called for immediate action to be taken to save the residents from the unbearable conditions in which they find themselves. He however alleged that the Assembly see the community as afterthought, saying, the Assembly does not involve them in decisions that affect them. Mr. Montia said the Association members always complain to him about drainage and sanitation situations which are worrisome.

In another vein, the Chairperson called for  a Police post to be situated in the community to ward off armed robbery and related cases.
